Community Guidelines

A few simple expectations that keep Meitheal a good place to ask for and offer help.

1. Be a Good Neighbour

Meitheal exists to help real people near you. Treat everyone here the way you'd want to be treated over the garden fence — with courtesy, patience, and honesty.

2. Be Honest About What You're Offering or Asking

  • Only post help you can genuinely provide, or requests you genuinely need.
  • Don't misrepresent your identity, location, or the nature of a request.
  • Follow through on commitments you make to a neighbour — if plans change, say so.

3. What's Not Allowed

  • Harassment, threats, hate speech, or discrimination of any kind.
  • Scams, fraud, or asking for money or personal financial details.
  • Posting anything illegal, dangerous, or sexually explicit.
  • Sharing another person's private information without their consent.
  • Spam, advertising, or using Meitheal for commercial solicitation.
  • Creating fake accounts or impersonating someone else.

4. Staying Safe When Meeting Neighbours

  • Meet in public places when possible, especially the first time.
  • Trust your instincts — if something feels off, it's fine to step back.
  • Never feel pressured to share more personal information than you're comfortable with.

5. Reporting a Problem

If someone breaks these guidelines, use the Report option on their post or profile. You can also Block a user so you no longer see their posts or receive messages from them. Reports are reviewed by the Meitheal team.

6. What Happens if Guidelines Are Broken

Depending on severity, this may result in a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from Meitheal. We aim to be fair, but we'll always prioritise the safety of the community.

7. Questions?

If you're ever unsure whether something's appropriate to post, or you want to raise a concern directly, contact us at meitheal.app@gmail.com.
